Updated Storyboard

Good afternoon! With our second day of filming wrapping up a couple days ago, my team and I thought it would be best if we made an updates version of our storyboard. Our reasoning for this is that many plans and scenes have changed, and we want our update storyboard to reflect those changes. Along with this, we wanted our new storyboard to have a more detailed description to it, so that anyone who viewed it could have a more detailed understanding of our film.

While the majority of this updated storyboard is fairly similar to the original, there are many scenes that were added, or significantly altered; with some scenes even being removed all together. One of the more major changes is the homeowner being knocked out. Even though he had already filmed the scene and slightly edited the scene, no matter how many times we shot it, it just never ended up the way we wanted too. So instead, we chose change up the story a little bit, instead having the homeowner be asleep in bed right when the introduction begins, with multiple shots showcasing him being sound asleep.

Additionally, another major change we made was removing the scene of the robbers stealing everything in the bedroom. I was worried that something would break while everyone was figeting around with my items. I brought up my concern with my teammates, and we came up with a plan. We instead changed it have the robbers walking in on the homeowner sleeping in bed, with comedic antics ensuing shortly after.

Lastly, we had to remove the scene of the three robbers initial reactions to seeing Power-Man for the first time. Although we all loved the scene, we felt that it was in an awkward spot where we initally put it. So we thought about pushing the scene back to happen a little later on in the video, but that didn't end up helping either. So in the end, we had to make the hard choice of removing the scene all together.

You may have noticed that the drawing styles and handwriting changes between some of the pages. You see, because we wanted this new storyboard to be as detailed as possible, we knew that it would take a group effort to complete it, so we decided to split the work as evenly as possible. Jonathan would take the first third of the film, Yulian would take the second, and Pedro would take the third.

As for me, because I'm already working on editing the film, my team decided to lighten the load for me. What I would be doing was double checking all the pages, and note down the changes and edits that had to be made to the shot descriptions. Below, I have attached all the edits and critiques that I gave to the pages Jonathan, Yulian, and Pedro sent me.

Yulian Edits- (Pages 1-5)

  • Shot 1: Establishing shot. Jump cuts to different angles of the house. Sneaky music begins to play. Yellow box with credit appears on the bottom left.

  • Shot 2: Dissolve Transition to a loose close up of house owners face to show he is sleeping. Loud snoring can be heard

  • Shot 3: Dissolve transition into a medium shot of robbers popping up from their hiding space. Becomes tracking shot of Pedro. Pablo: “Lets go! Go! Go! Go!” Yellow box with credit disappears.

  • Shot 4: Dissolve Transition into a medium close up of homeowner. Through the window the robbers are running by one by one. Loud snoring can again be heard.

  • Shot 5: Dissolve Transitions into wide shot as the robbers turn the corner and run towards the house door. Pablo: “Is the coast clear?” Another Yellow box with credit appears at the bottom left.

  • Shot 6: Cuts to another wide shot from the in side of the house, looking through a window while the robbers come closer to the entrance.

  • Shot 7: Cuts back to previous wide shot from Shot 5 as Pedro turns the corner.

  • Shot 8: POV medium shot from ring camera as Jon and Pablo realize what Pedro is wearing. Both Jon and Pablo: “What are you wearing?!”

  • Shot 9: A back tracking shot of Pedro walking to the door casually. Music pauses. Pedro: “I thought you said animal mask?”

  • Shot 10: Same shot as Shot 8. Back to the ring meduim shot as the robbers get disappointed at Pedro. Pablo: “No we said just masks.” Yellow box with credit disappears.

  • Shot 11: Wide shot as Pedro uses his tool to try open the door. Music continues playing again. Pablo: “Whatever, just break it. Go go go!”

  • Shot 12: Same as Shot 6. Another wide shot again from indoors as Jon swoops his head trying to see if anyone is inside.

  • Shot 13: Wide shot as Pedro successfully uses the tools and opens the door. Pedro: “I got it! I got it!” Another Yellow box with credit appears on the bottom left.
