Editing

Hello again!  Although we haven't finished filming everything we need for our introduction as of writing this blog post, I've already gone ahead and tried editing some of the the footage together. With that said, I thought it would be a good idea to go over how the editing process has been going so far.

As I stated in my past blog posts before, I am the main and primary editor of my groups final project, that means that I'm in charge of doing all the visual and audio editing within the film, attempting to keep everything nice and consistent, making sure that everything turns out as great as possible.

But what makes me best fit for putting together our final project? Well, as I've also stated in past blog posts, the reason I'm the one editing our introduction is that I have much past experience with video making and editing, with me even having an industry certification in Adobe Premiere Pro, a video editing software.

In fact, I just finished obtaining a certification for Adobe Photoshop just last month, and am currently working towards getting a certification for Adobe After Effects. Both being applications that are extremely useful for putting together this project during its post-production phase.

As far as the actual editing of the film, because we are still not quite done with recording all the footage we need for the film, I'm still in the early stages of editing the introduction. Because of this, that means that I have not encountered into many issues in this early stage of editing.

With that said, there is one major issue that I do have to deal with while editing, and it doesn't really have a work around. You see, I'm mainly going to be editing the footage from my personal at home, but because my computer uses the most current versions of the adobe applications, it hinders me from editing while at school, as the school computers run the applications on an older version of the software. The only solution to this is to just edit the introduction exclusively from home, which isn't the end of the world, but it definitely an aggravating annoyance, one that I am having to deal with whenever I'm in need of editing a video.

As I previously stated, I am still in the early stages of editing, but I've already done some progress. For instance, I have already put Fade In and Fade Out transitions to both the beginning and end of the introduction, allowing for a dramatic start and end.

On top of this, I've added some visual effects also, such as the onomatopoeia during the confrontation between the robbers and the homeowner. While this may not seem like a lot at first glance, it's important to keep in mind that this is still the very early stages of the editing process, and my team and I already have many plans and ideas of things and edits that should be put in the project. With me gradually working on the editing process over time, I'm confident that I will be able to get the editing done in no time!
