Camera Shots and Angles

High Angle Shot

This shot was made by my friend Alec and I in an attempt to create a High Angle Shot; the way we made the shot is quite simple. I stood to the side, holding my phone up as high as possible so that it was angled just above Alec's head, while he slowly walked by me.

Extreme Close Up

This shot was once again done by my friend Alec and I; this time, it was in an attempt to create an extreme close-up. Wanting to get a close-up of Alec's eyes, I placed the camera close to his face; we had decided that it would be best for him to strike a pose of looking off into the distance, seeing storm clouds that were, in reality, just ahead of us. In the background, I had decided to sing a little jingle, contrasting with the mood of the actual shot.

Full Shot

This shot was the more eventful one that Alec and I had done. It is meant to be a Full Shot, with Alec standing in the open area, clearly showing his whole body from head to toe. Just when we were about to shoot it, it began to rain. However, determined to do the shot, Alec had told me that he would stand out in the rain, for a more dramatic effect. I believe that this is the best hot out of all the others that we were able to do that day.

Extreme Wide Shot

This shot is an attempt to make an Extreme Wide Shot, with me being centered in the middle of the camera while also being far away from the camera itself, allowing for my surroundings to be the focus of the video. This shot is quite different from the rest; this was actually taken two days after the others, this time with me being in the face of the camera and my good friend Wyatt being the one recording. The reasoning for this is that the original video that I had recorded with Alec did not come out as I expected, with the video being too blurry to see the person of focus, so I decided to reshoot it. Similar to the last shot, however, bad weather had struck once again, with this time lightning and thunder all around.

Medium Shot

This is the final video Alec, and I were able to record before being forced to go back in due to the inclement weather. It was an attempt at creating a Medium Shot with the camera being angled just above the waist. This shot was not as eventful as one would expect, with the pouring rain falling all around us.

  1. Greetings Pablo! I really enjoyed the view of the wide shot. It really captures the large scale of your scene while still saving some spotlight for your subject in the distance. I also think your extreme close-up shot is very well done. It captures your subject's emotions perfectly and the reflection in the subject's glasses of the coming storm really builds up the suspense of the scene.

  2. Well hello there Pablito! First of all, that wide shot, holy guacamole! This wide shot is a perfect example to be shown in the textbooks. It really captures the large subject in the middle while showing the background beautifully. Really good proportions. Also, your extreme close up, what the flipadoodle man! Your extreme close up just be up to the subjects eyes, not their full face! silly boy.

  3. Salutations Pablo! The first thing I need to say is that wide shot is absolutely marvelous. The moving people in the background make the setting feel populous, yet it is still making the subject stand out. I loved the umbrella, it makes the subject seem massively mysterious. It makes me want to know more about him. If I had to give you criticism for this shot, it would be that I wish we could've seen the rain a bit better, but that's more of the camera's accountability than yours. Additionally, even though it was not quite eventful, the medium shot you made was very well done. I enjoyed the casual yet cool look that the subject had. My only recommendation for this one would have been the location. The teeming amount of grey behind Alec disrupts the energy that the shot was giving off. The rain and grey clous make his shirt feel less vibrant. I know we are very limited in the places; there aren't many sizable options to film in our school, so it isn't quite your fault. For a quick last shot, it is still very remarkable. good job!
